Gerald Joyce, M.D. earns Certificate of Advanced Proficiency in cardiac computed tomography from the American College of Radiology
HAMBURG, N.Y., June 30, 2011 – Dr. Gerald Joyce of Southtowns Radiology earned his Certificate in Advanced Proficiency in cardiac computed tomography (CT) from the American College of Radiology (ACR).
This honor is awarded to select physicians who, through formal examination, meet the requisite eligibility and professional experience qualifications to interpret cardiac CT images.
“The use of computed tomography continues to be an emerging technology in the assessment of cardiovascular health in patients,” said Dr. Mary Turkiewicz, President of Southtowns Radiology. “We are very proud that Dr. Joyce has earned this distinction and brings his expertise in cardiac CT to our practice.”
Located in Reston, VA, the ACR includes over 34,000 radiologists, medical oncologists, medical physicians and nuclear medicine physicians with the goal of making imaging safe, effective and accessible for those who need it.
In 2009, Dr. Joyce was one of the first physicians in the country to earn a specialist’s designation from the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT).
A graduate of Albany Medical College School of Medicine, Dr. Joyce earned his post-doctoral training and internship at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Maine, a residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo in Diagnostic Radiology and a Pediatric Radiology Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Prior to attending medical school, he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the State University of New York at Fredonia. He resides in East Aurora with his wife and three children.
